How do I de-clutter my home?

We have a very nice ranch style home, brick, 2 large bedrooms, 2 large bathrooms, kitchen, living room, dining room, laundry room, and a room which I call the den.
My husband and I both are “packrats”. I hate getting rid of my what nots that ppl have given me, items that my son made for me, and now our house is over cluttered.
I do not have the money for all these closet organizers and all, but can spend some money on organization.
Any suggestions that does not cost alot of money?

-Have you thought of having 3 or 4 sets of what-nots to switch with seasons or themes in mind? Buy stackable storage cubes; put pleasant combinations together. (Also some pictures and paper momentos can be put into an album and dated while still fresh. Scrapbook take up little space.) Changing your accessories from time to time is a little like re-decorating.
